Real-time Timbre Augmentation: Performing Spectral Sound Properties

The proposed research aims to define and implement a computer-aided composition system for live electronics performance which relies on the real-time analysis and processing of the different timbre features of the sound. To this end, an interactive performance music system will be designed whose main task will be the real-time translation of the spectral characteristics of the incoming sound into time-domain musical elements such as melodic patterns and harmonic textures. This will be achieved by developing dedicated software to support a versatile and coherent live compositional process for the creation and reinterpretation of original and traditional music.
