My research focuses on reggae music culture in Jamaica and Britain from 1968 to 1981. I will employ an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on cultural studies, ethnomusicology and history, as well as my own practice as a performer, to examine the music, marketing, production and reception of reggae. I aim to posit this methodology as necessary for a complete understanding of reggae. I also aim to consolidate existing disparate histories of reggae and Jamaica and Britain
