By examining the processes of video game design within video game development; the aim is to identify areas of poor/best practice within collaboration of the numerous disciplines involved. If a new video game design framework can be developed which utilises cross-disciplinary approaches for practitioners/students/researchers, underpinned by methods of gamification, then developers have better understanding of each other’s disciplines, whilst simultaneously utilising methods to instigate fun during development, to then find the fun-factor within the end product. A further aim would be to ascertain and recommend which best practices can extend outwards to other fields of design practice within other industries.
