Logic of the Archive

April 27, 2017 @ 9:30 am - 4:45 pm

Whether hunched over manuscripts in the reading room or searching for keywords in an online database, most researchers will be confronted with using an archive. Given that all archives are unique, most training for postgraduate researchers is usually focused on getting to grips with specific collections.

This workshop is different. Run by Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership, it brings their expert partners from across the archive sector together to provide training and share opportunities with doctoral researchers. Rather than learning about one collection, participants will acquire the theoretical grounding and practical knowledge to begin to understand the logic of any archive collection they may encounter. While ideal for first year postgraduate researchers then, this session will be useful for any researcher who uses archives in their work.

Please see below for the latest draft of the programme.

Attendance is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Book your free place online here.

The event is open to all postgraduate researchers from M3C Universities including BCU, regardless of whether they are in receipt of Midlands3Cities funding.
