My PhD research explores the design, manufacture and consumption of printed and woven textiles as well as the tobacco and trade industries from 1908 to 1939 issued in vast numbers during the First World War by tobacco companies such as Godfrey Phillips and periodicals such as My Weekly. In doing so, I will also examine promotional material used in the war to attract smokers.
