Jeffrey Lynne OBE was born in Birmingham in 1947 and is one of the midlands most successful popular music artists. The objective of this research project is to look at the cultural, social, and musicological conditions that moulded Jeff Lynne into the musician he has become, with a specific focus on the Midlands and the cultures to which the young Lynne was exposed. This will be further explored by looking at the impact of Lynne’s music and his approach to music making on the wider music industries.
