My project explores the political economy of world music, mainly focusing on the role copyright law plays in the music industries of two countries in the region of Sub- Saharan Africa – Senegal and Ghana. I will be investigating the role of copyright law in the fair remuneration of artists, how the music industries in these two countries are perceived by musicians and the current state of these two music industries.
