After working with filmmakers from countries such as Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Cameroon, Malawi, and Zimbabwe, I realised two common threads. First, many filmmakers were unaware of the happenings outside of their home country and second, much of the film studies related information available was either not taught or accessible to them. My research examines how film and television industries can aid governmental organisations like the African Union in educating African countries about each other to help facilitate a Pan-African agenda introduced in the 1920s and presently outlined by the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
