Hidden in Plain Sight: Rethinking Post-1945 Literary Nonhuman Animals to Reassess the Ideas and Representations During the Emergence of the Animal Liberation Movement

Revisiting post-war literature from the 1950s-1980s that dealt with the human/nonhuman relationship to reassess the ideas and representations during the emergence of the animal liberation movement as a historical corrective to some of the reputation of animal rights activism, vegetarianism and veganism today. My project seeks to emphasise the significance of literature in influencing ethical perspectives and its unwitting contribution to the animal liberation movement of the mid-twentieth century.
