The Role of The New York Times in the 2016 US Presidential Election

The purpose of this thesis is to examine media coverage of candidate Donald Trump in The New York Times in the months leading up to the 2016 US Presidential election and determine whether editorial bias impacted the outcome of the election. Specifically, it will assess bias in daily coverage, and whether any identified negative bias toward Trump’s candidacy caused potential voters, counterintuitively, to consider Trump’s candidacy with more preference.
