The Midlands3Cities doctoral training partnership is collaborating with Bird&Gorton (https://birdandgorton.com/) to offer two workshops specifically designed to enable arts and humanities doctoral students to explore careers in the creative and cultural industries. The workshops will provide practical advice and insider insights for students interested in working in and with Theatre and Performing Arts, Museums, Libraries and Galleries, Freelance, Sector Support and Funders, Cultural Festivals, and Film and TV.
The workshops will:
· Include practical discussion sessions with 6 leaders from across the cultural and creative industries, including Sandy Mahal (Director of Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature), Raidene Carter (Director of Artistic Programmes at Wac Arts), Dan Simmons (Former Head of Partnerships, Creative Skillset) and Emmie Kell (Chief Exec of Cornwall Museums Partnership)
· ‘Lift the lid’ on the reality of jobs and opportunities in the creative and cultural industries. You will receive a ‘Day in the Life’ pack featuring insights into the tasks, workload, hours, and partnerships involved in different parts of the creative and cultural industries, and have the opportunity to ask questions about the realities of working in and with the creative and cultural industries, including career pathways, informal recruitment, and key networks.
· Gain insights into key skills and employment trends across the cultural and creative industries, and develop skills, networks and action plans for creative employment.
