This is a thesis writing intensive, intended primarily for PGRs working on a first draft. The focus of the day is on churning out words, but it can also be useful for researchers at a later stage who are focused on editing.

Dr Helen Kara has been an independent researcher since 1999. She is particularly interested in creative research methods and writing, which she writes about and teaches to practitioners and postgraduate research students. She has published extensively, and most notably is author of Creative Writing for Social Research: A practical guide (2021), Research Ethics in the Real World: Euro-Western and Indigenous Perspectives (2018) as well Creative Research Methods in the Social Sciences: A Practical Guide (2015) and much more. Helen is also a Visiting Fellow at the UK National Centre for Research Methods, a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and is on the Board of the UK and Ireland Social Research Association.
