Chinese art outside the art space

October 12, 2017 - October 13, 2017

The Centre for Chinese Visual Arts at Birmingham City University would like to invite you to their annual conference …
Confirmed keynote speakers: Karen Smith (OCAT, Xi’an), Pauline J. Yao (M+, Hong Kong), Scott Lash (Goldsmiths, University of London)
The Centre for Chinese Visual Arts (CCVA) at Birmingham City University aims to foster new understandings and perspectives of Chinese contemporary arts, design and visual culture through interdisciplinary practices and theoretical studies. During its first decade, CCVA has established a unique position in the UK to pioneer the research in the field. We are now convening this two-day Annual Conference to invite researchers, curators, art historians, critics and artists at all stages of their careers worldwide to contribute to the topic, marking the 10th anniversary of the Centre.
Scholars and practitioners will be coming from around the world to participate in discussions around the theme of ‘Chinese Art outside of Art Space. CCVA’s annual conference is the most important event internationally which gathers experts in the field of contemporary Chinese art every yea; it is a prestigious platform to facilitate this specialised academic inquiry, as the Centre is also home to the only English-language peer reviewed journal on this topic.
The conference is free for all BCU staff and students. Register your free ticket here.
