YOUTH CLUB: Engaging with the material culture of popular music fandom
YOUTH CLUB is a non-profit Heritage Funded organisation working to preserve, share and celebrate youth culture history, founded in 1997 from the archives of Sleazenation magazine. On their mission to build a Museum of Youth Culture, YOUTH CLUB discusses the momentous task of chronicling the scenes, styles and sounds that make up British social history over the last 100 years. Delving into some of the 150,000 images and 1,000+ personal submissions received over the last year, YOUTH CLUB will lead a series of visually led group discussions around the archive, looking at issues like censorship, moral panic and institutional bias all to be considered when building a grassroots, DIY, people’s Museum.
