Art and Institution - Politics of the Art scene in Palestine

This research seeks to investigate the Palestinian ‘art-scene’, and its relation, role and influence on the transforming modes of production and aesthetics in the Palestinian art practice particularly in the post Oslo (1994) period. The main focus of this research would be on the Palestinian art institution mainly those that emerged in the early nineties and worked over the past two decades. The research proposes that these art institutions have laid a huge influence on the art practice and production and has contributed to both the ‘internationalization’ of the art practice and to transforming the visual language and tools in addition to the addressed themes and concepts explored by artists in various ways and manners.
