We are pleased to announce that the final schedule for the 2020 digital edition of the Cine-Excess International Film Festival and Conference is now live and can be found here.

This year’s event is presented in collaboration with the Black Sands Educational Project, which seeks to educate UK based BAME artists, filmmakers and audiences about the subversive potential that surrounds black representations in cult and marginal cinema formats.

The focus of the Black Sands project helps inform this year’s conference theme: Representations as Weapons: Cult Film and the Politics of Resistance. This theme considers the extent to which the struggle for representations by various ethnicities, genders and divergent groups is enacted through a range of classic and contemporary cult film genres.

The Cine-Excess 2020 encompasses talks from filmmaking guests that include Pam Grier (Jackie BrownCoffy) and the Soska Sisters (Rabid [2019], American Mary), as well as a three day online conference and a season of UK film premieres and exclusive screenings. The online festival schedule also includes pre-release screenings of two films that feature on a new Cine-Excess Digital Film Channel devoted to distinctive visions of global cult cinema.
On behalf of the festival team, we look forward to welcoming you to Cine-Excess 2020.
