Cinema is a long-cherished leisure activity that is all but, neutral and natural. Alike other production processes, the means of production of cinema is centred in the hands of ‘a few’. How they represent themselves, and subsequently others, is an intersting schema. It is deeply embroiled in socio-cultural and historical milieus and power structures. My research aims to dig into this schematic representation by exploring cinematic re-presentation of Dalits, a marginalised community, in Bollywood cinema.
